Increasing Numbers On North Carolina Retirement Rate

For the longest time, Florida has been the number one retirement area in the whole United States of America

. It is only understandable since it has an alluring long stretch of beaches. Florida nightlife, cuisines and other activities are addictive. However, due to some reasons that will be further discussed here in this article, Florida dropped down from the list. An emerging state on the rise is North Carolina.

The fall of Florida from the top spot is attributed to a number of factors. First of all, hurricanes are dominating the state. The loss of lives and casualties in terms of lands and other properties have taken a toll on the state. The insurance rate is currently on the rise as well as the crime rate. North Carolina is slowly taking the lead in terms of being the top destination for retirees showed through the recent study done by the National Active Retirement Association or NARA. This is especially true for ages between 41 to 49 years old.

NARA president already raised his voice regarding the issue. He said that the 1990 and the 2000 census revealed that North Carolina has been a steady top five placer among the popular retirement states in America. In about 10 years or so, NC is predicted to be ranked as number one.

As stated in the Del Webb Baby Boomer survey, more than 50% of the baby boomers still seek warm climate for their retirement destination. This makes the Southeastern part of the country very attractive, including the North Carolina retirement community. This growth is expected to continue at least for a quarter of a century more.


Despite the sudden popularity and the influx of new resident, North Carolina retirement living is still affordable. It is actually more affordable to live here compare to other East Coast areas. Among all the cities in North Carolina, only three are found to have home prices that are higher than the average.

Located in North Carolina are some of the best retirement communities in the country. Retirement communities Charlotte has are known for having affordable apartments with scenic views and an abundance of activities. If your family lives within the area, then there is no other reason why you should go anywhere else.
