Indian Dance Forms

Indian dances cover different dance forms that are performed in theatres, temples and other special occasions. The dances are often representations of Hindu deities such as Shiva, Krishna and Kali.

There are hundreds of different Indian dances, both traditional and modern, including the Bhangra, Ghumura, Chhau, Sambalpuri, Bihu and Garba. Today, traditional Indian dances are still performed in cinemas, theatres, and local and international shows..

Indian dances are divided into three categories: festival dances, classical dances and folk dances.
