Indian Sarees A Reflection Of Her Own Dignity

The national outfit of Indian women is considered to be the traditional saree

. 90% of the women in India wear these dresses. Indian women have looked the best, beautiful and very gorgeous in this attire even foreigners visiting India have admitted that. It is the perfect symbol of Indian traditions, customs, and culture. There are various types of sarees: chiffon sarees, georgette sarees, silk sarees, cotton sarees etc. to name a few. Lets understand more about it.

A saree is referred to a strip of unstitched cloth and its length is usually four to nine meters in length which is covered over the body in various styles. The most common way our Indian women wears her saree is around her waist which is then draped over the shoulder baring the midriff. The Gujaratis and the Punjabis as well as the South Indians have different wearing styles. The saree, especially designer sarees are worn over a petticoat and a blouse is also worn as part of the upper garment. The blouse has short and sometimes long sleeves with low neck and a crop. These styles of sarees are the most typical and common in many parts of India.

There are many styles of wearing a saree; it changes from state to state some sarees worn in Andhra Pradesh, there are inverted Bengali sarees and Oriya style in the East, the Maharashtrian style sarees, Kodagu style in Karnataka, and Gond saree styles in Central India. Additionally, there are some northern states which wear salwar kameez more regularly than sarees, especially the Punjabis.
