Indianapolis Nissan Dealers Look Forward To The Leaf

Suddenly, the automotive industry is a horse of a different color and that color is green

. But it aint easy being green, thats for sure. The race is on for market dominance in fuel efficiency as gas consumption numbers slowly tank in response to more and more fuel efficient technologies entering the market. While the race is tight, it looks like Indianapolis Nissan dealers are poised to jump out ahead of the pack.

The Nissan Leaf will soon be entering the market for commercial use and eventually for the publics consumption. As one of the first electric vehicles of its kind, the Leaf will set a new standard by employing lithium-ion battery technology to power itself for long periods of time and over long distances. With this kind of cutting-edge technology, your Indianapolis Nissan dealers are getting prepared to handle a big boost in interest from eco-friendly and smart drivers alike.

Indianapolis Nissan drivers have been anticipating the coming release of the Leaf since it was announced this year, and their anticipation is coming close to a head. Even Nissans CEO Carlos Ghosn is getting in on the fun.

Ghosn recently appeared in Washington with FedEx Corp. Chairman Fred Smith and some other CEOs (the Electrification Coalition) to ask the government to spearhead policies that will help put millions of electric cars into play. According to the group, the U.S. should be using electric instead of petroleum power for 75 percent of its driving by 2040. By 2020, the coalition projects electric vehicles will be 10 percent of the automotive market.

Nissan and Ghosns move towards efficiency comes as a direct result of pushes in the U.S., Europe and Asia for consumers to adopt fuel efficient technology like electric cars, thereby reducing dependency on natural resources like oil and helping to improve the environment. These pushes come in the form of incentives to buy more fuel efficient cars, which have been highly successful in the U.S. and at new and used Indianapolis car dealers.

But Ghosn didnt have high hopes for this months United Nations climate summit.

"You're disappointed if you had any expectations" for Copenhagen, said Carlos Ghosn, Chief Executive Officer of Nissan Motor Co. Business must clarify what those rules will be. "What we'd like is something to be setElectric cars will move up slowly. It's not taking the market by storm."

For Indianapolis Nissan dealerships, the time couldnt be better for the release of the all-new Nissan Leaf. At a time when fuel efficiency and innovation have become the driving factors in the direction of the entire automotive industry, Nissan is truly stepping up to the challenge and playing a crucial role in the shaping of such new policies. Visiting your new and used Indianapolis car dealers is fun, but when Nissan is in the picture, you know youre getting innovation in an attractive package.

As for the Leaf, well have to wait just a little bit longer before we can head down to the dealership and give her a test-drive. But my curiosity is peaked at the thought of it; Id like to see if this car lives up to Nissans expectations.
