There has been a significant change in tools, design and methodologies employed in different industries. With far better results, machines and methods used today are much efficient than before. One such method that finds immense utility in various industries is what NDT or Non Destructive Testing method is all about. This method is preferred over all others, for it's easier to scan irregularities in any material, but without even slightly deforming the item under question.

Industrial Radiography:

Today various industries employ this method to check irregularities of any sort in any critical material being used. Industrial radiography is a similar technique where flaws in any material are reported by a method which is based on use of gamma radiations or X rays. The highly penetrating rays, generate an unambiguous image of the internal structure of any material, thus making it easier to know about any density anomalies like cracks, fissures or more. Industrial radiography is one of the most popularly used non destructive testing methods.


Hardness Testing method:

The other common method categorized under NDT is the Hardness Testing method. This is specifically employed for assaying of hardness values of different constituents in metallic minerals. The Hardness Testing methods used are of various types, some most common ones include; Rockwell Hardness Testing, Brinell Hardness Testing and Vickers Hardness Testing.

Penetrant Testing Method:

One more in list of NDT is the Penetrant Testing method that is one of the most common surface testing methods used. Based on fundaments of capillary action, here the material to be tested is coated with a solution that easily helps in surfacing up of any imperfections in the item in question.

Apart from the above mentioned methods, there are many other NDT methods, which industries use in current times. Field called NDT is interdisciplinary in nature and plays a crucial part in assuring, that materials used in industries are reliable and can perform there said function efficiently.

NDT employs the use of various other methods to help in easy location of internal surface deficiencies, cracks and further imperfections. These methods are of great help in various industries like construction and manufacturing. The materials to be used when tried and tested thoroughly and then used in construction of any material; ensure better safety and life of the same.

NDT is considered very similar to medical industry, one major difference between the two is that, while medical technologies are carried on living beings, the objects of testing in NDT are non-living in nature.
