Try to trim the sides and then closer down toward the ground so that it cannot be used by the burglar as a hiding place. Moreover, you need to consider cutting the overhanging branches of the trees near your house. It is because the shade trees are possible to be climbed for getting into the window on the second floor.

Thirdly, you should add lighting to your yard in order to reduce the chance for the burglar to hide there. It is better for you to use lighting that can run on a timer. You can install this lighting around your doors and windows, and also around the side and the back which cannot be easily seen from the street.

Lastly, it is important for you to become friendly with your neighbors. You can try to make an informal deal with your neighbors to watch each other's house. Besides, if you see any suspicious or unusual vehicles that park near your area, you can inform the police so that you can get the help from them.
