Influencing Consumer Behavior Via Artists

Social media is growing and there is no surprise about it. While many people have grown uncomfortable with the level of privacy they are promised by certain sites, others are opening up their pages to a mass audience for exposure but moreopportunity. Opportunity? When I say that word, I'm referring to jobs and networking with the people in the industry you are interested in. It can go a long way, depending on how you present yourself on your social profile.

Personally, I used to think social networking was invading my privacy, but then I schooled myself on how to use the tools on sites likeFacebook to customize my privacy settings. Now, I'm considering using it for more professional purposes. However, a transition from social to professional use means marketing yourself accordingly. In other words, you don't necessarily behave the same way at work as you do when you are hanging out with friends. Some people might, but for most of us, we keep those two things separate.

The important thing to realize is that social media is what you make of it. It's not necessarily bad or good. There are several pros and con's. Knowing this and leering how to use the site to your advantage is where the success in social media lies. Companies can earn profit while influencing consumer behavior, people can impress potential employers and organizations can raise awareness.

Instead of blaming social media, we need to learn how to use it. It reminds me of how people constantly blame the media for covering or not covering certain events or disasters, but why?

Knowledge is at your fingertipsliterally it is on your keyboard. If you really want to know what is going on around you, you have the means to find out on your own. You don't need to depend on a news network. Our society likes to point the finger way too often but the problem is ourselves and our lack of knowledge about how to use the sites productively. Investing the time into gaining knowledge about social media will lead you to many rewards, among other things, so.. what are you waiting for?
