Selling information products is a thriving business

. People are now able to open up an international business form their spare room, never have to meet a customer face to face and if they choose never talk to them on the phone. This is the perfect business for the shy person, or people that need to stay in the house.

It does not matter how old or how young you are, because all you are doing is delivering a product for a cost that solves a problem for a customer. Whether you have the technical ability or not to setup a website or create text into a digital product does not matter, there are people on the internet that can do this for you at websites like rentacoder or elance.

In order to find ideas for the creation of information products, you need to look to your own skills and knowledge first. Is there a special skill or family trade that you can share? Do you know how to create something, how to pass a recent examination, or can build something and explain how to do it?

Any solution can be created into an information product. All you have to do is write it down on paper and type up a logical step-by-step approach to solving the problem. This will form the basis of your product specification.

In my experience it is absolutely essential that your product solves a pain or adds financial value rather than providing a pleasure. It has been proven that people will pay more money and take less time to decide to buy if you have a product that will remove a pain or improve their earning potential.

Sometimes all you have to do is reposition your product and give it a different angle. As an example you may have boosted your career by passing an exam or you have found a great tax saving tip when recording your annual accounts. Perhaps you have figured out a way to cut your electricity bill in half. These are all a pain for certain people. Maybe the customer has to choose between paying a car payment and heating their house because their utility bill is too much.

Smaller information products sell between 5 to 20 GBP and it is difficult to charge more unless there is a larger financial benefit or unique in the marketplace.

Once you are familiar with selling smaller information products you can start to look at better products to sell, such as audio, which are recorded interviews of a knowledgeable person in their field. You can even collaborate with other sellers as a joint venture and even start to research on your own subject as you know it is a hot topic. There are unlimited possibilities for information products. Just make sure that you are going after a market that is willing to pay for the knowledge.
