Ingrown Facial Hairs - Three Solutions by:Mike Jones

Ingrown facial hairs are especially distressing of course because they are so visible to others

. Depending on the severity of the condition the following choices are available for solving the problem.

1. For those wanting a permanent ingrown facial hairs solution, and who are prepared to pay the higher cost and invest the required time, electrolysis, laser treatment or epilight are viable options.

2. For an economical long term solution use the Ingrown Hair Treatment solution (see Resource box below). This can release trapped hairs and also with regular use after shaving prevent ingrown hairs from forming.

3. For occasional ingrown facial hairs tweezing is probably the best option.

Do not use ordinary tweezers to release the hair as there is the risk of taking out a chunk of the skin with it resulting in more skin irritation and damage. Needle-nose tweezers are best.

For ingrown hairs which are deep, sterilize a pair of needle-nosed tweezers with rubbing alcohol and individually lift each ingrown hair out of its follicle.

If needle-nosed tweezers are not available, wipe a pin or needle and the ingrown area with rubbing alcohol.

Then carefully release the hair in the direction that it grows using the tip of the needle only.

Never jab the needle into the skin.

After the hair is released, wipe the skin with alcohol again.

Extra suggestions for Male Ingrown Facial Hairs

Let the beard grow as the hairs will not grow back into the skin once they reach a certain length, or

Avoid shaving totally for 3 to 4 weeks until all lesions have subsided. Apply a mild cortisone cream available on prescription each morning, or

Shave every other day, rather than daily.
