Srinagar: Chairman of his Faction, Hurriyat Conference (M) Friday urged New Delhi to take the aspirations and sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir seriously and take sincere steps for the resolution of long pending dispute'.
"India, without wasting any time, should accept the ground reality in Kashmir and take sentiments and feeling of the people here very seriously. India should take sincere and serious steps to involve Pakistan and Kashmiris for the long lasting solution of the dispute," Mirwaiz said this in his Friday congregational prayers' speech at historical Jamia Masjid, Srinagar.
Mirwaiz, who is also the chief cleric of the valley, was allowed to offer Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid after put under house arrest by the authorities for 14 Fridays in running.
According to Agence India Press reporter, Mirwaiz made it clear that curbs and restrictions by the government wouldn't deter him from talking about people's sentiments and aspirations.
"The brute force and the restrictions by the authorities and security forces won't stop me from talking about the political issues in this Mosque. It wouldn't prevent people from raising their voices for the Right to Self determination, which is their birth right," the Mirwaiz said.
Pertinently, Inspector General Police, Kashmir, a few days ago had said that people won't to be allowed to preach politics in the historic Jamia Masjid.
He saluted people for showing strength' and perseverance' in last five months of unrest and paid tributes to the families of 122 killed during this period.
He urged authorities to lift the restrictions on all political leaders in the valley who have been put under house arrest for a quite while now.
The young leader vouched for the release of all the political prisoners and the youth who have been arrested by the police during last few months.
Meanwhile authorities placed senior Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani and APHC leader, Shabir Ahmad Shah under house arrest. (AIP)
