Ins and Outs of Cricket
Cricket is a game which can be played either in a day or through a week. There are two teams that play on the field, one bats and one bowl with fielders, they all each have eleven players on the field. There is a twelfth player, which is there on reserve incase someone gets injured. If you had to compare this game to another one, it would probably be baseball. Here is a more detailed description about the game.
While the game is played there is a twelfth man on stand by, incase one team member is injured and can't play. The sole duty of the twelfth man is to be a substitute for fielding. The player that was injured is free to return as soon as they are cleared to play.
Laws and rules and governed by umpires. There are two umpires that are required on the field at all times. The umpires are there to tell the scorers of a decision that has been made. There is third umpire, which handles the video footage, they come into play when the field umpires are unsure of a decision, because it is to close to decide. The video will then be replayed with the decision.
The game is played over two innings, this is when a team has to bowl a team out more than once and score more runs than them to win the game. There is different types of matches there are the test matches, a one day match and a 20/20 game. The test takes a longer period of time to complete, and a 20/20 and a one day only involves 50 balls, or 20 balls and will always be completed during that day.
You can score runs, by hitting a four or a six. A four is when it by passes all fields man and hits the boundary of the pitch. Where a six, is through the air and over the boundary, and misses everything. You can also get a run if there is a "no ball," which means if the baller doesn't bowl the ball correctly, by overstepping the mark, or being dangerous when he is bowling. A wide ball, is when the umpire thinks the bowler has bowled to wide for the batsman to hit the ball. A bye is when it passes the batsman and runs will be scored when the batsman doesn't hit the ball. A leg bye is when it hits the batsman on the leg not on the bat.
A batsman may be given an out, when they are either bowled out, by hitting the wickets. The batsman has been caught out, by the fielder. The ball has to be caught in the air and not have touched the ground before hand. Leg Before Wicket, which is a umpire decides if the ball would have hit the wicket if the batsman leg was not there, if it is yes and it was not pitched on the side of the wicket then the batsman will be out. They can also be run out, this is when they are running between wickets and the ball has hit the wicket on either side before getting there. To win the game, you have to accumulate more runs than the opposing team.
Cricket is a world game, but is usually known in the commonwealth countries. There are many different rules and factors that go into the game and the type of the actual game that is played. Such as what is considered to be a given out in the game, and how you can win runs. Overall cricket is played by two teams, and you win by having the most amounts of runs on the day or in the test.
