Inside the cage secrets to unleash your punching power
As a mixed martial arts fighter you must use every training method at your disposal to give you the edge in the ring
. There are a few ways a cage fighter can unlock his punching power. In this article we will discuss four ways that you can do this. Exercises using the medicine ball, plyometrics, body rotation and technique all play an important role in your punching power. The goal of this article is to give the modern martial artist the tools you need to overcome your opponent.
If you truly want to get into the cage then using a medicine ball in your workout is a great way to exercise in preparation for the cage. A good exercise using a medicine ball is to stand back to back with a partner and pass the ball between the two of you. To complete this exercise you start holding the ball at about your navel and twist your body to the right to pass the ball to your partner. Your partner will then take the ball and twist to his right to hand it back off to you. This exercise forces you to twist your torso which targets the core muscles.
Another good way to develop your punching power is to use plyometrics. Please use caution if you are considering using plyometrics in your workout this type of exercise is not to be taken lightly. These exercises are very demanding and can leave even the most seasoned veterans exhausted. There are many different exercises that are considered plyometrics. A good example is the clapping push-up. To do this exercise we start off in the push-up position and push yourself up explosively and clap at the peak of your push-up. Another good exercise involving the medicine ball and plyometrics is called the slam. To start this exercise hold the ball behind your head with both hands and slam the ball to the floor. You should be able to catch the ball on the bounce to repeat the exercise.
Some people may think that having strong arms will increase your punching power, however this is not the case. Most experts agree that the power in your punch comes from your whole body. This means by rotating your body and get more power behind your punch. Having a strong stance will help give you the foundation you need to deliver the perfect punch. This involves having a good technique so that you do not leave any openings for your opponent. A good way to improve your technique is to throw punches in the air in front of a mirror. This way you can see if you are telegraphing your punches. And you also see what your opponent will see as you're throwing punches.
Incorporating these exercises can greatly improve your punching power and your functional strength. All of these exercises use different muscles groups throughout your body. Using these exercises will lead to better technique and more strength for you to deliver your strikes. This will not happen overnight but in time you will have the power to knock out your opponent.
