Install A Pull Out Kitchen Faucet With These Simple Steps

Installing a pull out kitchen faucet is easy and is a home improvement project that you can do yourself

. It may be helpful to have another person assist you with some of the installation steps outlined below. To install this hardware you will need an adjustable wrench, a screwdriver, a basin wrench, some plumber's tape, caulking, a tape measure, and the faucet itself. First, get under your sink and turn off the cold and hot water valves. Try turning on the faucet to see if the water still comes out. If water flows out, then shut off the main water valve. Be sure to put a bucket underneath the water valves. Then, loosen the nuts that are connecting the water supply lines to the valves. You will want the adjustable wrench for this step.

Your next step is to use a basin wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the faucet to the sink. This allows you to remove the faucet. Next, pull out the supply lines. If the replacement faucet is not put together yet, you should do so. In your sink's rim, you will see a hole to run all of your hoses through. From underneath the sink, slide the triangular plastic washer, then the fiber washer, metal washer, and finally the circular nut over the hoses to attach the faucet to the sink. At this point, you should have someone hold the pull out kitchen faucet on top of the sink in an upright position while you use the basin wrench to screw the circular nut on the threads of the faucet stem. Next, clamp the nut to the plastic washer with the screws.

Connect the water supply lines to the valves. Be sure you connect the hot water supply line to the hot water valve and the cold water supply line to the cold water valve. Now, loop the loose end of the spray hose up and connect it to the third line coming from the faucet. Your adjustable wrench will be the tool of choice to tighten the nuts that connect the supply line to the shut off valve.

A pull out kitchen faucet has a weight in the middle of the hose that helps it to retract back into the spout. You will have to measure the spray hose. Find the 15 inch mark and screw the weight to the hose. Pull out your faucet hose to see if it retracts.

Turn on the hot and cold water valves and check for leaks. Go to the end of the spray head and take the aerator out of your faucet. Turn on your new pull out kitchen faucet so the pipes and spout are fully flushed. Removing the aerator prevents it from getting clogged with debris that may have been loosened while you installed your new faucet. The final step is to replace the aerator, then you are good to go.
