Installing A Shower Pan In Los Angeles
A shower pan can get old and dingy and start to allow water to leak through
. You will want to replace it. If you have a shower pan Los Angeles to install you can consider installing it yourself. You do not have to have great home improvement skills to do be able to do this yourself. A shower pan is what collects water the shower. Because it is on the floor and constantly getting water on it, it needs replacing more than any other part of the shower. You can get a contractor to replace a
shower pan Los Angeles but that would be very expensive. Consider doing the job for yourself. It is important to replace the shower pan in order to extend the life of the shower and guard against water damage to the walls from splash and lack of draining.
You will want to go to your local or big box home improvement retail store. Make sure you have measured your shower and know what size you will need. There you can find a pre molded shower pan. A Pre molded shower pan will be the simplest to install and if you are doing it yourself, simple but effective is the best way to go. When looking at the pre molded shower pans, choose the one at the highest level you can afford. It will make a difference in quality and how long it will last. You are wasting your time and money if you get a less expensive one that allows water and moisture to leak into the drywall.
You will also need mortar mix. You will need enough to encompass the floor that the shower pan will cover. For the amount of thickness you will need, read the shower pans instructions. Make sure you buy enough mortar. Do not be on short on this.
Once you get home, turn off the water to the shower. Make sure that the floor of the shower is perfectly dry or the installation will not be effective. Take the mortar and spread it in an even layer on the floor where the pan will be. A pre molded shower pan will have the required slope already in it. If not, make a slope in the mortar. You will need to make sure the mortar dries completely. Do not rush this process. It must be dry. Lay the membrane liner on top of the mortar as the shower pan instructs. Spread another even layer on top of the membrane liner as per the manufacturers instructions.
It is now time to lay the pan onto the mortar. Lay it directly on top. Take the time to make sure the pan is aligned with the rest of the shower. It must fit snuggly and securely so no moisture can seep through. The drain cover can now be screwed into the shower pan. Make sure you allow plenty of time, preferably at least overnight, for the mortar to dry. If in doubt let it dry longer before hooking back up the water and using it.
