International Soccer Teams Participate at Phuket Invite

On November 27 to 28 of this year, the Phuket International Soccer 7s annual football tournament will be held

. Once again, soccer teams from all over the world will come together in friendly competition to play their favorite sport, soccer. For eight straight years, the organizers and the sponsors of the event have been successful in putting in order the series of soccer games. More than anything, it has been a testament to multinational talent, skill, and camaraderie.Participants from all over the world include different teams from England, India, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, Cambodia, China, Germany, and of course, from its host country, Thailand. The global diversity of the teams and their players add up to the excitement of the game and the challenge of pure skill. Everybody is openly invited to form a team and join the competition.One unique feature of the tournament is that there is no prize money for the winning teams. All there is to the cup is the showcasing of talent and skill, and the chance to compete with completely different and foreign athletes. The main idea is to build up a friendly and healthy competition among the players.Healthy competition is the key to this contest. Proof that this works is the fact that it has been a continuing annual event, lasting for eight years already. Passion for the game, for friendship, for sportsmanship and for fun is what keeps the spirit of the game alive.There are basically two categories in the Phuket Soccer 7s Tournament. These are the Open Men Category and the Masters Men Category. There are currently 24 teams registered under the Open category and 20 teams signed to the Masters category. There is also another tournament for soccer players, the Phuket Spicy Soccer 7s. The said tournament is turning three years old on February 2011.The games in the 8th Phuket International Soccer 7s, together with the 5th Andaman International Soccer 7s, are estimated to be over 300 games in total. 88 teams from roughly 18 countries will be participating in the two tournaments, with the Andaman tournament taking place a week before the one in Phuket.The venue of the games is tentatively decided to be at the Phuket International Academy (PIA) or the Karon Stadium. The locations are not only amenable to the playing field for the games; they are also convenient for players flying from different countries. This is because these venues are situated proximal to the hotels where the teams will check in and to the airport, too.An overall feel of Phuket is in store for the different teams. They will be toured to the different hot spots of the city at night. After a tiring day of soccer, attending parties and jiving into the groove of Thai night life is a plus to the whole experience. Taste of the local cuisine, fine dining at different restaurants, and partying at bars and clubs will be only some of the extra-curricular activities waiting for the players of the tournament.
