Internet Generation Considers Sexting As A Part Of Dating

In the days gone by young people used to exchange and express their emotions pertaining to sex through phone

. These were the days when the technology was still in nascent stage. Dating was restricted to exchanging letters and telephonic conversations.

The concept of modern dating has changed from the older days. Telephones have been replaced by mobile phones and these have all possible features on them. Apart from conversations, texts and image scan be exchanged.

Todays dating has many components; sexting is also one of them. The simple reason for being so could be the availability of high end technology gadgets to the young adults.

Sexting is the act of sending sexually explicit photos or images through mobile phones.

The common perception of people says that sexting is behavioural problem.

However, a study was conducted by University of Michigan on Sexting. More than 3,000 people in the age group of 18-24 were interviewed in this study. It was established that sexting is not associated with any psychological disorder.

The study also reveals that about 30% of these people had sent a sext and around 40% of them had received the same.

The study also concludes that the phenomenon is quite common among young people, especially teenagers and it is nothing but a romantic reciprocation between two people in love or any such relationship. Hence it can always be referred as a way of modern dating.

These days when people fall in love or they develop a liking, the first thing they do is to send a sext which is a way of satisfying and expressing the sexual needs which are associated with emotions.

In fact the study conducted also shows that there was no negative impact of sexting on the normal behaviour of the sender or receiver. In fact, it is proved that it is not a risky affair.

Any technology which has provides society with a lot of comforts is likely to have its own set of risks.

While looking at things from a different perspective one will surely understand that sexting is an impact of technology on human thought, his behaviour, expression, reciprocation and even emotion.

Sexting can be safe till the time the receiver and sender both maintain the human limits and do not overdo the act. Parents, teachers and any other educator of the society have to nurture the young minds about using it optimally without hurting the sentiments of any person or group.

When it becomes a weapon to cheat or harass someone then it is surely disastrous. This is the time when people start cursing the advancement in technology. Rather than blaming the user the science is being blamed.

Hence, the society has to gear up for even more developed technology. The responsibility lies with the user to ensure that it does not become a nuisance.
