The higher the amount of searches and the lower the amount of competitors, the better chance you give yourself to rank on a keyword. It is also not wise to chase certain broad phrases which have millions of competitors but do not bring targeted searchers.

After you have taken care of your keyword list, you must optimize your website properly. You should orient your entire website with information revolved around the keyword you are chasing, you do this by optimizing your meta tags (title tag of your website, up to 80 characters allowed), content (strategically place your keywords around the website without spamming), and most importantly, back links (placing your anchor text website URL + keyword on other relevant websites). Back links are essential to being ranked for any keyword, they show Google your website is working diligently to become popular and it appears to Google that other websites around the internet favor your website.

It is extremely important that we should care about SEO and appearing on Google search engine; it is new age marketing and the awareness level of SEO and Google is increasing rapidly each day. Old or outdated marketing avenues do not reach targeted customers the same way Google is able too, because people are keying in exact searches to find your business, prior to Google search engine (and other search engines), nowhere has marketing been able to pinpoint an exact person.
