Internet Marketing: It Takes Time To Build A Business Online

One of the many things that a lot of Internet marketing gurus are quick to promise

is that when you buy their books and videos and follow their so-called secret Internet marketing strategies, you are guaranteed to find tremendous success in just a short time. They assure you that within a month or two of following their Internet marketing techniques, you will see significant earnings flowing into your bank account.

It definitely sounds nice, the idea of having to work on an online business that is supposed to generate you a year's worth of income in less than a month's worth of time. After all, if you pull in that kind of income steadily and invest your money wisely, you can retire early and never have to work for your daily bread ever again. You can afford to enjoy the finer things in life, own your time and do the things that you have always wanted to do.

But you know, this is exactly what a lot of Internet marketing gurus would want you to believe that it only takes a short time to make money online using a "proven" system. How else are they going to sell their secret strategies? The truth, however, is that it takes a lot of time not to mention effort to build a successful Internet marketing business online.

Why an Online Marketing Campaign Takes Time

Was Rome built overnight? It definitely was not. It took hundreds of years for the ancient Romans to build the jewel of their empire. They did their job so well that Rome still stands intact today.

This is just an illustration of the amount of time you have to devote to your Internet marketing efforts. Let's just say that you have signed up to be an affiliate marketer for someone else. Your job here will be to promote your partner's product and drive traffic that will convert into sales to their website.

The least expensive way to do this is to write articles with links to your affiliate partner's website and then submit these articles to article directories. It may take you an hour to do your research and then another hour to put the data together in an article. That is already two hours of your time in a day. To generate optimum results, you need to submit at least two articles a day to at least five article directories.

Of course, submitting articles to article directories is not the only way to promote your partner's products. You can do a pay-per-click campaign, email marketing, and others. Imagine how much time they would take to get done?

It is entirely possible to make money online through Internet marketing. However, do not be deluded into thinking that you can be a millionaire overnight. It takes time and it takes work to get an Internet marketing business on its feet.
