Internet Marketing keyword search Is it really on the decline?

Basing from the Google Insight figures, the search for the term had gone down over the last five years (with its peak in May 2007 at 100 and lowest at 55 in Dec. 2010). These numbers reflect the searches on the term "Internet Marketing", relative to the total number of searches in Google over time. They don't represent absolute search volume numbers, for the data is normalized and presented on a scale from 0-100. Normalized here would mean that Google divided the sets of data by a common variable to cancel out the variable's effect on the data. It would allow the fundamental characteristics of the data sets to be compared. If Google didn't normalize the results and displayed the absolute rankings instead, data from regions with the most volume of search would always be ranked high.

So should this concern beginners in making money online?

According to the International Telecommunications Union and Nielsen Online, the internet users from June 2006 to June 2010 steadily rose from 1.043B, 1.17B, 1.463B, 1.669B and 1.966B with 2.01B ending 2010. Looking at the trend, June 2011 will have about 2.167 billion internet users. A 208% increase with absolute values in billions is a great one over a 6-year period.

The world's Top 20 countries of internet users as of June 30, 2010 cover about 75.8% of the total. It's also remarkable to see that 7 out of 20 countries own almost half of it at 49.13%. All 7 are Asian countries (China, Japan, India, South Korea, Iran, Indonesia and Philippines).

Looking at the Regional Interest of the Internet Marketing keyword, the top 5 countries are

1.Indonesia

2.Malaysia,

3.India

4.Singapore

5.Philippines

Of the five above, three have hit the 1000% growth from 2000 to 2010 Philippines at 1385%, Indonesia with 1400% and India with 1520%. These countries have a population penetration rate of 29.7%, 12.1% and 6.9%, respectively. Other countries with at least a thousand % growth in using the internet but about 30% penetration rate only are China (1,766.7% @ 31.6%), Brazil (1,418.9% @ 37.8%), Nigeria (21,891.1% @ 28.9%) and Mexico (1,028.2% @ 27.2%).

So, should you worry as a beginner?

You shouldn't!

First things first though in trying to make money online - learn the fundamentals! You should be able to at least create a website on your own. It's much easier to revise your website's content if you know how to do it. It'll also save you some time and money by not hiring expensive web designers. Web designing's a cool stuff but you don't have to be too flashy for now. All you need is a one-page functional website to show your products and services.

You must then learn how to market comprehensively. You may spend the next 3-4 months by joining various discussion forums about internet marketing or making money online, writing articles, submitting to classified ads, doing video marketing, visiting social bookmarking sites, etc. These are some effective strategies that you can immediately implement to build your list progressively. It may take some time but it'll be worth it.

Once you have it, make sure to also have a good relationship with it since there are real persons behind those emails. The skills that you've acquired the past few years can become your vehicle to making money online as you may already have the necessary information that can solve other people's problems. Many will be willing to spend in exchange of quality information packaged in ebooks, dvd's or even programs.
