Internet network marketing has been overly complicated by the gurus. It has lead to people putting themselves into a lot of debt by buying course after course and product after product...with nothing to show for it but an emptier bank account.

It has also lead to many people just giving up on their dreams because they just couldn't figure it out. Do you really have a lot of time to waste or money to burn? If you're a serious business person then you probably answered no.

You see, the gist of internet network marketing is finding prospects online, building a relationship with them, and selling them stuff. Yes it sounds so simple. The gurus have turned a simple concept into something so complex.

Where most people go wrong can be solved in the following three tips:

1. Identify your target market. What kind of people do you want to target? Product users? Business builders? Other network marketers? That old business saying, "If you target everyone, you really target no one" is absolutely true.

2. Now that you've decided upon whom you're going to target, you now have to put together a marketing system that is geared toward your target market. In your system each piece leads to the next piece.

What you're doing is pointing the way to your marketing funnel, where most of your relationship building and money will be made. The parts of your marketing system include

the targeted lead capture pages

email messages

retail income producing products and services.

Either create your own system or tap into an existing good one.

3. Before you do this third step, all your marketing pieces should be in place. What's the use in getting traffic if you don't have a place to send them?

In this step you're going to go after targeted traffic. You've already identified your target audience now you need to know how to reach them online. You can do a search by looking at websites that cater to your target audience...i.e. forums, social networking sites, etc...

Another option is to do some search engine optimization techniques to bring your target market to you via articles, videos, etc...

The last option is to do some paid marketing. This can include doing pay per click, media buys, etc...

With all these steps in place you're driving targeted traffic to your marketing funnel. That's where you'll begin building relationships and making the bulk of your money. If you find that you're not making any money or not generating targeted leads, odds are you've neglected one or more of those steps above.

This is the whole gist of internet network marketing. How well you execute it will determine your success.
