Interview With The Game Ffxiv Producter Tanaka
4Players: How big is the new game world, Eorzea
, compared to Vana'diel (Final Fantasy XI) and what are their perspectives on the characteristics of the new game world if they use ffxiv gil?
Tanaka: The game world will be approximately the same size as that of Final Fantasy XI as it came on the market. In the past eight years but of course Vana'diel is growing steadily, and thus become ever larger. But Final Fantasy XIV is rested with additional content over time expandieren.Das design of Vana'diel in the first line on an ancient highly developed civilization, whose remains architecturally interesting insights offered. With Eorzea we have created more of a medieval-like world, but also contain technological components and machinery.
4Players: As is Final Fantasy XI Final Fantasy XIV also offer a very flexible job system that does not restrict players to a class, but allows any profession through a simple weapon swap. Even with the overall character development can be the player free reign over the distribution of attribute points. Look at these freedoms is one of the great strengths over the competition?
Tanaka: Yes, indeed. Even Final Fantasy XI raised by his change of job and from combinations of other MMORPGs, where one usually selects a class and after reaching the maximum level usually do not want to start again with a different class from scratch. So the development of the character is most clearly defined. We will put the player on the other hand free to develop in all possible directions. This flexibility also allows that players can interact with a high-level players with lower levels where it easily to a corresponding change classes without having to start from scratch.
4Players: What, in the light of technical progress, things they would like to install in the future the game?
Tanaka: We think that the current version is already good use of the existing hardware does. In the development that we had to go in any case hardly compromise. Technological advances offer new opportunities but of course always. Right now our focus is, for example on DirectX 9, but at some point we would like to upgrade to DirectX 11.
4Players: To start is to offer Final Fantasy XIV no PvP content (Player versus Player). If the foreseeable future remain, or are appropriate extensions already planned?
Tanaka: Yes, it is only the start PvE content (Player versus Environment - Editor's note), but give the development team is already working on PvP content. There are probably already can hand in the foreseeable future, the recent enhancements via updates.
4Players: Will there be a form of clan wars, or city to give large groups?
Tanaka: Initially, such a thing still be too early. We want the players to focus initially on the PvE content. We also want to PK options - prevent (Player Kills Editor's note) and harassment. We try to incorporate any rate PvP content that do not offer these negative aspects.
4Players: Currently, Final Fantasy XIV developed for PC and PS3. An implementation of 360, which was already in Final Fantasy XI uses seems also not yet completely off the table. The main reason for the choice of system has led Microsoft's position, Xbox Live to see as a closed system. What exactly is the sticking point? Finally, we have been at play Final Fantasy XI PC and console owners without trouble. If you want to avoid partout also let Xbox and PS3 users to meet each other online?
Tanaka: (Laughs) The exact reason we ourselves would like to know. Probably accepted Microsoft's multi-platform alignment of Final Fantasy XI at the time as an exception, because Xbox Live is still comparatively young, and Microsoft's guidelines were not defined as clearly. Now its principles seem very clear and they want Xbox Live just as a closed system. They do not even something like a Web browser, so they want to restrict even in this area of access. The multi-platform aspects of Final Fantasy XIV seem to unite with its principles so simply can not. We are still trying to talk to them and negotiate. If it should come to an agreement that is definitely an Xbox version to follow - at the moment we have stopped the development but only once.
4Players: It always said that Final Fantasy XIV will appear simultaneously for all systems and regions. Now, it was announced that the PS3 version would be published only six months after the PC version. Why is that and they are happy with this decision?
Tanaka: We really wanted a simultaneous start, but let's influence in the development are not so much on the specifications of the PS3. The adaptation to the reduced space has been found at the end, however, as it takes much longer than expected. We try to work of course as soon as possible and maybe we'll make it even earlier than currently planned (in early March 2011 - Editor's note). All I can say right now ...
4Players: Then all the best and thanks for the interview!
