Eventually, it was bound to happen

Eventually, it was bound to happen. This year you picked the short straw and the hosting responsibilities from some annual event have fallen on your shoulders. For the shy people who hate crowds, this became a nightmare. Every other year you had cancelled last minute. Now that the party is at your place, you can't hide.

Introverts aren't necessarily shy. They typically prefer quiet events with a few select guests to a steady stream of conversations, noise, and an overwhelming feeling of excitement. There are some ways to fix your nightmare of an evening.

Take a Seat

Look at the room where the party will be centered. At a Superbowl party, the focus will be the big TV and the kitchen. Ensure there is plenty of seating before the big event.

Taking it Easy

Approach the party with a laid back attitude. It is possible to have guest slip off to other rooms. Do not get upset. It is your responsibility to stay calm and happy.

To Cook or To Cater that is the Question

If you hate parties because cooking is not your thing, this is the time to pick of the phone and order in some food. Making yourself miserable is not in the job description of the host. Make sure to have a selection of vegetarian foods, just in case. You can also suggest that everyone bring a dish.

If you love cooking, go for it. Have some fun with it. Plan a menu, go shopping, and cook until you drop. But it is also wise to not allow your ego to lead the way. Some people may be finicky eaters. You may not get the ideal reaction.

Whether you cook or cater your event, the same rules apply. Try to please all the guests. Guest love to go home with gifts, so if there are too many leftovers, pack them in plastic zip bags and hand them to people as they leave.
