Apple's iPad - the latest tech rage. You may have already noticed that the tablet computers being used in coffee shops and airport. But you have not thought that iPad is now being part of the prescription for healing at hospitals.In a local hospital, 11-year-old Mark Butts came here as he has many times before.
"Almost every night I was screaming in pain," Mark Butts said, who is suffering from sickle cell anemia.
This little patient went for one of his many trips to the playroom, where something other than the Wii caught his eyes.
"Very cool!" Mark said excitedly.
It is Apple's iPad and at the Children's Hospital, it is not just another toy.
This iPad is part of the treatment, in three important ways: Distraction, education and then the last one is preparation.
"We show them the children patients the doctors dressed up in their scrubs and hats," Robertson said, a child life specialist at the hospital whose job is to help patients manage the stress during their stay. And he demonstrated the application on the iPad.
First, distraction from the fact that you have been hooked up for two weeks to an I-V, just like Mark has. He is particularly enjoying playing air hockey on the iPad during his time in the playroom.
"You can have fun with them," this kid said, "and it can take your mind off of your pain."
And education, the iPad was taken to the pediatric kidney dialysis until where it was used to talk about kidney disease with a young patient.
Well, there is no need to worry about that the good traditional board games or arts and crafts will be replaced by the new technology in this way.
Just as the workers at the hospital say, this is just another way to connect with their patients.
"I think it gives us just a little more credibility that we know about technology and we are using it in the way they are using it as well." Robertson said.
Find the iPad in the hospital and playing with it surely impressed this little patient. "I can't believe it but they do have a lot of cool stuff." Mark said.
However, another little girl in the hospital is not so lucky that can play games on the iPad.

That little poor thing can hardly make a movement, even with a hand. She has to lay on bed all day long because some kind of disease in the nerve fibres.
But it seems that she also has a good time with iPad, she is watching some interesting videos with his mother and we can see the happy look on her lovely face.
Her mother explained that the little daughter especially loves cartoons, and this considerate mother always search for all kinds of interesting cartoons and put them on the iPad for her little kid's enjoyment, since iPad is the most suitable player with its light weight and the wide touch-screen for this little girl who can only flip things with her finger.
"I was with her all day long now, and I have tried everything to make her happy. My friend has recommended me some sort of iPad converter, or something like mac iPad Converter, it is said that I can put all kinds of cartoon videos on iPad with the video conversion, getting rid of the video format discrepancy as I encountered before. I am sure my lovely angel will have much more cartoons in her iPad video collection." This great mother laughed.
Anyway, before we realized it, iPad has become a more and more popular helper in our life, just like in the medicine field.
