Iphone Developers In Demand As Brands Chase $2.5bn App Market

The number of mobile apps downloaded from the Apple store has hit a staggering 2 billion. There are now close to 6.6 million apps downloaded every day and the market is worth an estimated US$2.5 billion per year.

While mobile apps for Android, Blackberry and Nokia are also booming, the iPhone enjoys a whopping 84% share of the app market and agencies are falling all over themselves to snap up experienced developers.

The question is, are there enough developers out there to keep up with demand?

A recent dig around our stats shows that the number of iPhone developers on our database has increased by over 350% in the last year alone. Thats a fairly massive jump, but it still only represents barely 1.5% of our total developer candidate pool. That's not a huge number, so it looks like supply may soon be struggling to keep up with demand.
