Is A Prom Limo Required To Return Teens Home By Curfew If They Are Under 18?
Prom night is coming, and you've made all the arrangements
, including renting the most hip prom limo ever. You, your date and your friends are sure to have an amazing night. But now you're wondering, "Hmmm...is a prom limo required to return teens under the age of 18 home by curfew?" That is an excellent question.
The answer depends upon your community & their child curfew laws. These are non-existent some places, while in others, they're quite strict. Still others have a curfew but are willing to be more lax on weekend nights, & possibly for special occasions involving lots of teens, like prom night. Check out exactly your community's exact policy, & also be sure you check in with the prom limo company for their policy. That way you won't be hit with any unexpected surprises and feel like Cinderella (or Prince Charming) running like mad away from the ball before the clock strikes midnight.
Most prom limo companies insist on an adult chaperone/matron accompanying teenagers renting a prom limo. You may be able to bring along your own chaperone, if you know an adult who's down with going along. Others provide the chaperone. FYI, be nice to the chaperone. That way they won't have reason to clamp down on your fun and bring your evening to a screeching halt.. So make sure everyone who''l be in your limo knows to be on good behavior, polite & respectful to the chaperone & chauffeur, and to use good judgement. The prom limo's a very expensive piece of property, & even a little rough horseplay could easily wind up costing a lot in repair or replacement fees (like damaged DVDs, sound systems, a missing remote, etc) Make sure everybody knows none of that rough stuff or careless behavior is allowed, and you'll be fine..
Back to curfews, but with a different spin. Maybe your community doesn't impose a child curfew - Perfect! But your parents DO. If they decide to lower the boom & insist that the prom limo gets you home by a certain hour, the limo company must comply. However, there are steps you can take to persuade your folks to extend the curfew. They're worth a try.
Go above & beyond your parents' expectations for at least a month before prom. ALWAYS be home by house curfew, do your chores, keep your grades up, and basically be a model child. If that's not your typical M.O., really step things up a notch to show you can be that "responsible young adult" they're always encouraging you to become. Once you've renewed or gained their trust, politely request an extended after-prom time. This might mean attending a chaperoned after-prom event, & maybe even inviting them to be a part of it. Whatever it takes, right? Don't be stupid, like going out drinking, or to a hotel when you've told them you'll be elsewhere. All your diligent rule-following of the month(s) before & your credibility will go right out the window, if you blatantly break the bond of their trust.
