Is A Salt Water Pool Right For You?
All around Australia, people are turning to salt water pools for many great reasons
. Still, salt water pools aren't right for everyone. How do you know whether chlorine water or salt water is right for you? It helps to educate yourself a bit about both options.
How Does A Salt System Work?:
The main thing that baffles people about salt water, or saline pools is cleanliness. How does it stay clean and sanitised without chlorine? The answer may surprise you. Salt pools do rely on chlorine - but you don't have to add any yourself. This is achieved by the control box which is used to charge the salt which is added to the pool. It then splits into its two main components: sodium and chloride. The chloride is rendered into a gas, which dissolves and sanitises the water.
Trying to Get Away from that Chlorine Sting? Try Saline:
One of the most unpleasant things about chlorinated water is that it sometimes irritates swimmers' ears, respiratory systems and skin. The distinctive smell of chlorine tends to linger in the hair and on the skin after getting out of a pool, and diligent shampooing must be undertaken in order to get rid of it. The beauty of a salt water pool is that the sting and smell is dramatically reduced, making for a more pleasant swimming experience.
Save Time and Money With Saline Water:
Using chlorine, you know your pool is completely sanitised, but maintaining a salt water pool might be your preferable option. Saline or salt pools need far less maintenance - and salt is reasonably cheaper than chlorine. Chlorine may be the standard, but salt water pools are growing in popularity mainly for these reasons.
The Choice Is Up To You:
Basically, the choice of using salt or chlorine water is totally dependant on your personal preference. It should be noted, though, that a salt water pool is no where near as salty as the ocean is. In fact, its salinity is usually about one-tenth of seawater's. As a result, you won't have to worry about feeling that sticky salty beach feeling when you swim in your pool - and you won't have to deal with the salty sting of the water if you inadvertently get some in your mouth or eyes.
