Man is popularly called a social animal. He created relationships to stay bonded with others. These relationships exist at the individual level and extend up to the national and community levels. The affection is there between the people related to one another somehow. This often becomes a reason for support at different levels. This most important trait of the human beings sometimes becomes the cause of the worry when it results in biased perceptions and biased news.

It would be too early if you stop reading this page feeling that this writ-up is biased. The first thing that I would like say is that I used the word sometimes above, so it shouldnt be generalized. But, the fact is that there are occasions when there is a confrontation between the basic principles of media and the national interests and quite often the media supports the national cause. This becomes the basic reason of media biasing, which may do good for a particular country for the time being, but not to the whole world. The worst part of this is that it does no good in the long run.

Every time some latest world news flashes on any news channel, I am not able to digest it straightaway. I am not talking to the news where there is any tragic incident and news channels speak about the number of dead bodies, but when it is about a strategy or a step for or against something. In all, when the news concerns the approach of a country. The national interests of the country are not the only factor, but other factors that play a crucial in biasing includes the fact that media is not often close to the center of news.

There are a number of famous news agencies all over the world. The important ones include Reuters, CNN, and BBC World News etc. Every time they cover news reports concerning some far flung areas or the volatile countries, like Iran these days, are these news channels in a right position to make a perfect report? Isnt it possible that a team that visits a particular place influences the facts there and tries to make it look its desired way?

This is quite a possibility and it does happen these days. Things really become problematic when media nourishes a particular mindset. America is one of the supreme powers of the world and its policies affect the world politics and finance. I am proud of my nation and I would never wish to see its image degrading. I have one more reason to be happy. The American media is very liberal. I recount a research of Elaine Povich, which suggested that only 7 percent of the media people voted in favor of George Bush in 1992 as compared to 37 percent of entire American population. The media people here have their own opinion and express it freely. Why it is so then that media doesnt come up with unbiased reports on Iran issue? Love for country is appreciable, but does that justify accumulation of more and more weaponry and nuclear bombs with absolutely a different opinion for others?
