Is Being "Over Qualified" Blocking Your "Employed" Status
As the recession continues, unemployment increases and socialist ideologies continue to rise the hardworking are being told that they are "over qualified" (and thus not hired). It's seems as if someone doesn't want us to rise out of this grim situation. This article will examine why "less" is desired more in these times, and why "dumbing down" appears to be the way to go.
Even with the crazy 1970's Americans still enjoyed great jobs and salaries. The mid 1980's began to change some of that. The 1990's began the regression. The 2000's continues to leave only two classes: the abundantly rich (a few "handful" of "elite") and the financially struggling. Let's face it, if you or I can't pay our mortgages (who am I kidding-I don't even have a mortgage)or our other debts on time and as expected then we are struggling. We may not be able to continue "hiding" in the facade.
Many of us can remember how proud we were when we were in the top 3 or top 5. I remember entering a job interview where theproduction floor was full of applicants. I entered that building from a previous interview. I was the only applicant in a full suit. Everyone else had on casual clothes. I sat down with a bunch of "guys". I filled out my application, walked up to the receptionists and apologized. I wasn't able to wait. I really didn't expect a return phone call. Someone with in that company was impressed with my professionalism. I was hired that week.
We might remember those "old school teachings": study hard, make eye contact, be professional, be consistent, don't take things for granted and many more adages. Then things drastically changed. From our religious beliefs to the world views around us: people began to become more emotionally immature (and less focused). Who remembers when the professionals began to "demand" a "casual" Friday? Was it really that important that we wear jeans in a professionalbuildingduring work hours?
All the while, many said, "it doesn't matter", or "what's the big deal". None of us ever expected our ways to drastically change. I've sat in unemployment meetings with former executives who grossed more than $200,000 dollars annually. They were perplexed at not being able to be hired. The woman who conducted the class informed us thather present year's salarywas the amount she previously paid for her taxes.
So I guess it did matter after all. Maybe many of those conservative or religious viewpoints really did make us a Great Nation.
It might benefit people to become their own employers and bosses. Today's digital world offers many opportunities to do so. My friend has two boys age nine and eleven. I was out cutting lawns and making money at that age. He tells me that his sons are "too young". Yeah right. My friend is also an installer. He could start his own business installing. He could also train his sons this trade.
It's obvious that the face of our country is changing. It would not be wise to wait on others to "show us the way". We must pro actively devise a path for ourselves.
I wouldn't advise "dumbing down" for a job opportunity unless it paid a good starting salary. Otherwise I would advise "wising up" and seeking ways that you can financially benefit yourself. I recently watched a video with Warren Buffet and Jay-Z. It was a very interesting video.
Unlike many wealthy people, Warren Buffet was very down to earth. He continually said, "Listen I'm no genius. I just stuck with what I was good at, and I didn't let anybody tell me differently".
I think our biggest mistake was letting "those in charge" decide our course. We should have been more focused like Mr. Buffet.
