Is he sincere when he tells you that he just wants you? Are you unable to tell whether you're dealing with someone who's playing you or if he is really serious? Do you need to know what signs to look for to see if that guy you've been seeing is for real? People can be hard to read, and it's hard to tell at the beginning of a relationship how truthful someone is. But there are some ways that you can get answers to the question: "Is he sincere?"

One test of sincerity is the reliability test. This one is very simple, but many women try to ignore it or make excuses for a guy's behavior if he doesn't follow through on his promises. If he calls when he says he'll call, and keeps other promises, then that's a good sign.

If you find yourself listening to excuses for why he hasn't kept his word, then that's a very bad sign. Don't bend over backwards trying to rationalize his bad behavior. If he seems unreliable at the beginning of the relationship, things are very unlikely to improve over time.

Another area to look at is whether he is accessible to you or not. Is he always unavailable? Does he take forever to return your calls, or plan to spend time with you? Those are signs of someone who is not taking you very seriously.

If, on the other hand, you can usually count on him to be there when you want him, then that's a sign that he really wants to spend time with you. Don't expect him to always be at your beck and call, but he should be relatively attentive and courteous. If he isn't, then is he sincere when he tells you he cares about you? Probably not.

Finally, just listen to your gut. You might want to believe he's sincere when he's not, but if you're honest with yourself, you probably have picked up clues already. Or, if you feel insecure or jealous because you're unsure of yourself, but your gut tells you that he's being up front, listen to that, too.

There is no bulletproof way to read another person. But you can look for signs, such as reliability and accessibility, and you can listen to your most honest inner voice. Then, you can answer the question "is he sincere" for yourself, and trust yourself to learn the truth.
