Is Internet Marketing Really That Easy? Not Really
The way I see it, when you work for someone else it promotes two things. First, unless you are one of the lucky few that have a great job and really love what you are doing, chances are you will probably be stressed from bills and unhappy. Basically getting by, maybe a vacation here and there, but that is about it. Second, the majority of people simply don't find any sort of satisfaction going to the same old job day in and day out.
Redundant, monotonous, and completely mentally unstimulating are great words to describe this process. At least that is how I feel about it. However, I am not exactly a normal person I don't think. My study habits and my somewhat compulsive behavior are good indicators of my oddball ways.
So let me say a few words about Internet marketing or IM as it is most frequently referred to as. This is a journey that many people will start with great enthusiasm figuring they can toss up a blog on Blogger or Wordpress.com, maybe put a few affiliate links in, and start reeling in the money from all the traffic they will be getting.
Then a week later reality hits, and they haven't made a cent so they start scratching their heads wondering what they did wrong. Next, they inevitably move on to stage two, and that is buying way more courses than they know what to do with. It spirals downhill from there. So now they don't have enough time in the day to stick to one single course long enough to make it work. They jump from book to book and course to course that promises them thousands of dollars every week with just an hour of work a day. If this is the unfortunate series of events that happened to you, let me apologize right now. I have read about this happening to far too many people.
Now I don't mean this to sound harsh, or to scare anyone off, but if what everyone says is true, only about five percent of people actually make a decent living online. Oh, and let me clarify, some people get lucky and hit it big with a simple niche blog right off the bat. So it is possible, just very unlikely.
The good news here though, is that if you set your mind to it, and have good people in your life to mentor you and set you in the right direction, it will greatly increase your chances of success. As a matter of fact, if this is the case, and you have a good work ethic, you are almost guaranteed to succeed.
The point I want to get across is that if you are just starting out you will no doubt be suffering from what they call "analysis paralysis", and this basically means that you are stuck, don't know which way to turn, and that there is much more to learn than you previously thought, so you end up doing nothing.
This isn't good at all. Try to approach this with a different mind set if you can. Do one thing that you know how to do and master it. It doesn't matter what this one thing is. If it's SEO great, learn and master that, if it's web-design and HTML awesome, or if it's learning how to do blog commenting that is good also. These are all things that you will need to have a descent understanding of eventually, but don't rush it because it will come with time.
Clear your mind of all the get rich quick schemes and focus on one blog until you have a solid understanding of the basics and are making money with it. Then you can branch out and dive into bigger projects.
Take one thing at a time and before you know it, you will be able to look back and realize how much you've grown over the months, and how much knowledge you have gained. It really can be overwhelming when you are first starting out. All these things like FTP, IDE, MySQL, or CMS will be scary in the beginning but they really aren't that big of a deal and you will eventually learn them no problem.
Simply take action each and every day, because this is what will produce results in the long run. I hope this has helped in some way to anyone that is struggling or wondering why they haven't yet achieved results. Everyone has to go through this "test" if you will to see if you have what it takes to succeed at IM.
