Is It Okay To Date Someone Else If You Want Your Ex Girlfriend Back?

You know that you want to be able to patch things up with your ex girlfriend

, but you also feel as though you should be able to date someone else right now if you want to, considering the fact that you and her are broken up. What should you do? Is it okay to want your ex girlfriend back but also want to be able to date someone else right after the break up?

If I was one of those guys that just handed out shallow, politically correct advice, this is where I would say that you should not date someone else, as it would be "wrong" to do that. I am not one of those guys and so, I am going to give you the truth.

Most of the time - it is okay to date someone else even if you want your ex girlfriend back. And most of the time, it will actually give your chances of winning back your ex a little bit of a boost. Dating has changed. It's not the same as it was 50 years ago, yet a lot of the advice that you see on issues like this seem to be taken right out of the past.

More and more people are cool with the idea that you can casually date someone just for fun and that is okay as long as you aren't trying to play any crazy mind games. The other thing that you need to recognize is that, advice wise, there is a double standard. Women will almost always get told that they are free to date someone else after they have broken up with someone, but guys often get told that it is a bad idea.

Let's take a look at why it can actually give you a boost if you want your ex girlfriend back:

When your average guy tries to win back an ex girlfriend, he does more to turn her off than anything else. He lets her know that she can do whatever she wants and that he will always be around for her to come back to when she decides. They basically turn into a doormat that she can walk all over. And that usually makes them seem unattractive to their ex girlfriend.

On the other hand, when you show your ex girlfriend that you are capable of moving on, that is actually a good quality to her. And when you let her see that you are not always going to be someone she can go back to whenever she wants, it forces her to think about how she feels about you. I can't tell you how many times I have heard men turn their entire situation around with their ex girlfriend just by going out on one or two dates with another woman and it usually comes back to the fact that they let their ex girlfriend know that they were not always going to be an option for her to turn to. That's a good thing and why you should consider dating casually even if you want to win back your ex girlfriend.
