Is It True That Sex Positions Affect Baby Gender
?The other day, I received an email from a hopeful mom to be who asked me: "is it true that the intercourse positions that I use to conceive could help decide whether I have a boy or a girl?" While it's true that intercourse positions can influence your baby's gender there is more than just this one factor at play here. However, using different positions depending on what you're trying to achieve is certainly one piece of a somewhat complicated gender puzzle. I will discuss this more in the following article.
The Differences In The Sexes Differ Well Before Birth: Most people will concede that baby girls and baby boys are thought to have different characteristics and personalities once they are born, but do you know that is is also true even before conception? The sperm chromosomes that later become embryos, fetuses, and then infants also have different attributes dependent upon the gender that they will eventually become.
For example, the sperm chromosomes that become boy babies are fast movers. They are fast to travel but then quick to burn out. If a boy (Y) and a girl (X) sperm were in a race, the boy sperm would likely win each and every time. But, this is not as cut and dry as it may seem because those same boy sperm have a hard time making it to the race in the first place. It's an achievement in itself that they survived the obstacles to be there. That's because they are considerably weaker than the X's. They are vulnerable to many factors. To be very specific, their window is often at least two days less than their female counterparts.
The girl or X sperm on the other hand can live for much longer (often said to be as many as four days) but they are comparatively more lethargic. These differences can have real repercussions on which gender you end up conceiving depending upon the methods that you use.
How Intercourse Positions Are One Variable That Can Influence Odds Of Which Sex Or Gender You Conceive: So considering what I just told you, would you want to use shallow or deep penetration if you wanted a boy baby(remember that they are shorter lived?) You'd want to use deeper penetration of course because this lessens the Y's vulnerability and gets them to the finish line quicker. Examples of positions that give deep penetration are rear entry or positions with the female elevating her legs and hips. Anything that can make point A to point B happen more quickly is an advantage.
Likewise, you'd want to shallow penetration if your goal is a daughter because the X sperm can certainly live for long enough to make that trip, even though they are slow and will take their time about doing so. Examples of shallow penetration are traditional missionary or any position that you can modify and can keep in mind what you are trying to accomplish so that you can use control. Of course, you will need to take into account the physical attributes of both you and your partner and experiment prior to the time where you are actually trying to conceive to see what accomplishes these objectives best. Also, a woman's orgasm helps the Y sperm because these fluids are alkaline (which I will discuss more below.)
Other Variables: Unfortunately, the sexual positions that you use to conceive are often not the end of the story or enough to ensure success. Sure, they will definitely give your chosen chromosomes an edge, but to have the best chance of success, you'll want to weed out as many of your undesired chromosomes as you can. You can do this through manipulating both time and acidity or vaginal pH.
In terms of time, for a girl, you want to conceive early and want to make sure that are you concentrating your efforts well before you ovulate. This is not the case if you want a boy, which means you need to wait until the egg has come down. In terms of acidity, you want to make your vaginal pH high and acidic if you want a girl, because this is a serious deterrent to boy sperm. And you want to make it alkaline if you want a boy because you will need this friendly and neutral environment to encourage those vulnerable little fellows.
