Is Obesity In America A Growing Epidemic?

Not to be rude, but heck yes it is! Obesity is a disease that affects around 60 million people in the US

. Yea, we do have starving families in the US, but for the most part, 60 million for obesity is a HUGE number. Most of the people that are obese are women that are 20 years old on up to 74 years old. And most of them are African-American or Mexican American. The reason? Most people think it's because of the "fast food" era and convenience of packaged foods. Yes. It might take an hour to cook a home cooked meal and it might take 5 minutes to go through the McDonald's drive thru, but I think if more people KNEW what they were eating, and knew that they were trading FAT and obesity over healthy home cooked meals, they would probably think twice about going to McDonald's 5 days a week.

So what exactly IS obesity anyway? Numerous individuals think obesity means that an individual is fat, but that's not exactly true. An overweight person has an unnecessary amount of weight that includes muscles, bone, fat, and water. An obese person has a surplus of body fat. Most wellness professionals agree that a man is obese if he has over 25 percent body fat, and a woman is fat if she has over 30 percent. Women physiologically have more body fat than men, so that why there's a difference in percentage. Not only is obesity about not feeling good in your own skin.

Its about health problems galore, everything from High Blood Pressure to Diabetes to heart disease, cancer, colon problems, digestive problems, back problems, etc. The list goes on and on. It has also been linked to depression, shame, low self-esteem and guilt. Is this really the way you want to live your life? The problem with most people is they don't know the How's. They don't know anything about fast weight loss. They don't know about healthy eating. They don't know how to lose weight quick. They want to get a six pack easy, but darlin' that don't come easy! If you are looking for someone to teach you the basics about food intake, and how to exercise using an easy workout plan - one in which ANYONE can do, there are a few choices for you.

Chances are if you are obese and you are feeling depressed, sad and ashamed, the last thing you are going to want to do is go out to a gym with a bunch of 20 year olds that are burning off their "fat" (yea right). But, you could try virtual training programs. These programs can teach you about your poor diet and why you need to change it and HOW to change it. They can teach you about motivational techniques, and they can motivate you as well. The only way to change this, is through change itself - but it starts with you.
