Is Plastic Surgery Right For You?
If you are a woman with very large breasts, you know how limiting it can be
. It can be uncomfortable to do physical activity. You may have such large breasts that you have pain in your neck and back. Maybe you even suffer from recurring yeast infections under your breasts. Large pendulous breasts can be painful and often require a woman to constantly wear a bra to keep her breasts contained. It may even be difficult to sleep on your back. You can find relief with plastic surgery, but you must first have a consultation to evaluate if you are good candidate.
Being a good candidate may mean that the surgeon goes down a list of complaints or things to which you must first attest. For instance, say that you have two children and you may want more. Maybe you are currently nursing one of your children, and you want to wait for that child to wean. Perhaps you hear about what the procedure entails for you, and you decide you are not comfortable with it. A woman who comes to these conclusions with the information given will decide on her own that she is not a good candidate.
Otherwise, be prepared to be candid. Your consultation will involve measurements, photos and discussions about your weight and ability to maintain it. You will discuss incision sites, types, and recovery time.
If you determine that this is the right time in your life for this procedure you will be pleasantly surprised to learn this is a one-day surgery for most women. In fact, this plastic surgery along with a few other procedures can be done in office. Another pleasing fact is that this is not necessarily an elective surgery, since it can be done for your well-being. All the photos and measurements are meant to try to get the insurance company to pay for your procedure. Most likely, if your complaints were recurring yeast infections, back pain and neck pain, this will be the case. If you have no medical indication they may determine it is elective.
Be sure to choose a surgeon you are comfortable with. If you are more comfortable with a woman, you should choose a woman. If you have friends who have had plastic surgery, ask them who they used and about their experience. While at your consultation be sure to ask questions, and be sure that your surgeon has the credentials and experience to perform your reduction well. They will discuss incisions they would likely use on you, discuss risks and benefits and they will tell you what they will do to avoid these complications.
