BE DIFFERENT than everybody else and BE HUMAN! Build relationships with people and be very transparent with who you are. Offer value and send them to a capture page only if what you"re offering can really and truly help someone solve a problem. Regularly share things that have nothing to do with your site or business.
Facebook is call FACEbook and not LOGObook. People want to connect with people and not with businesses. After all, it"s called social media, meaning these are sites people go to interact and talk with each other. The last thing they want is somebody pitching them their business opportunity. That"s bush league and mistakes rookie internet marketers make.
The problem with Facebook and Twitter is that everybody follows hundred to thousands of people, or friends hundreds of people they don"t know and start broadcasting links to offers they want to send traffic to. The worst is when their followers do the same thing turning it into a vicious cycle of a bunch of people screaming in the same vacuum.
