Furthermore by only having a VoIP phone you are committed entirely to your Internet connection when it comes to communicating, should your connection go down you will not be able to make or receive any calls.

Security presents another issue with relying on your Internet connection for your communication needs. Much like mobile phones, which carry with the risk of being hacked, the Internet does not provide a great amount of security, so if you were to disclose any personal information you may be putting yourself at risk of fraud. In particular smartphones that use cellular networks are noted as being a high-risk category. In conclusion despite the potential that lies with the Internet for communicating there are still some underlying issues.
