I get a lot of questions from folks who believe that they have chronic telogen effluvium (CTE) who are at the end of their ropes. They're sick of shedding hair and losing volume and they are afraid that if they keep shedding at this rate for much longer, the appearance of their hair is going to continue to decline. But, they have no idea what to do because no matter what they do or which treatments they try, the shedding just doesn't stop or get any better. What Is CTE? What Can Cause It? And How Do I Know It's Not AGA Or Hereditary: By definition, chronic telogen effluvium is hair shedding (more than 100 hairs per day) for more than six months. What had happened was that the chronic loss only accelerated and brought on the genetic thinning that she would've faced years down the road.
