Is There Such A Thing As Paid Medical Transcription Training?
As an at home career option, medical transcription looks pretty good to a lot of people
. The one problem is that it's expensive to learn. Wouldn't it be nice to find paid medical transcription training?
It's not going to happen. Legitimate jobs of this sort really aren't out there. Especially if you expect to work at home.
Finding a company that would pay you to learn medical transcription with no experience or training would be like finding a job that would pay you to learn any other highly skilled job. When a job needs a lot of skills to be done, you have to get training on your own.
Don't be fooled by companies that claim to offer on the job training. I've seen a few of those, and they've always been scams. They usually want you to buy their software before you start training. Then you're never, ever good enough to get paid.
You're better off focusing on getting high quality training than on looking for a company that will pay you ro get trained. Good training means that you'll be ready to work when you do find a job. Considering that most at home transcriptionist positions pay on production, you want to have great training.
The reason you don't get paid to learn medical transcription from scratch is that it takes a long time. 6-9 months if you work hard on your training program. That's a big investment for a company to risk if you don't make it through the training. After all, even a basic rate of pay would put the cost of training you at far above what you will spend on even a high quality training course on your own.
If you need to earn money while you learn, you're going to have to work at some other job. If you need the money, don't quit your current job to study medical transcription. It isn't necessary. Sign up for a self paced online course and you won't need to worry about your work hours keeping you out of class. You'll be learning at your own pace and as it fits into your schedule.
If you're out of work and want to learn to be a medical transcriptionist, you're going to have to find a way to pay for it. Some people are fortunate enough to have family members who will loan them the money for the classes. Others have to take advantage of payment programs or use a credit card, knowing it will have to be paid down later.
If getting paid while you study is a matter of eating or keeping a roof over your head, prioritize what it takes to get by. Take whatever work will allow you to get by. Study when you can. The realities of life won't always make it easy to improve your life, but if you fight for it you will get there eventually.
Don't feel bad that you can't get paid to learn medical transcription. Instead, be relieved that you didn't get scammed into paying for a nonexistent opportunity.
