Is Your Xbox Broken? Consider Fixing Your Xbox Yourself Before You Send It Back

One of the most frustrating things to happen to a gamer is to face the Red Rings of Death Error on your Xbox

. It's even worse if you were in the middle of a game when your Xbox threw the error. It can make you so mad that you resort to drastic measures. Like going out and buying a whole new game system so you can keep playing. Or taking your anger out on your console. Or deciding to rip open your Xbox and fix it yourself. With so many people having errors and problems, there are a lot of manuals out there that tell you how to fix your Xbox on your own. Here are a few things to consider if you are thinking about fixing your Xbox at home.

Before you break out the screwdriver and soldering gun to fix your Xbox yourself, there are a couple of things you need to consider. One is whether or not your Xbox still has a warranty. If you purchased the extra store warranty, then of course it makes more sense to take your Xbox back to the store and exchange it. But if you didn't, your Xbox still has a warranty of at least a year, and in some instances three years. Yes, you have to wait for them to fix it and send it back to you, but it's better than opening up your Xbox and voiding the warranty and still having a broken one at the end of it all.

Second, if you are considering fixing your Xbox yourself, you have to remember that it will void the warranty. So you need to be confident that you will be able to fix it yourself. If you don't have a lot of tools around the house to help you fix your console, it might be cheaper and easier to just send it in for repairs. Then you don't have to worry about buying a lot of tools and still not being able to fix it yourself.

Three, you need to find a great repair guide about how to fix your Xbox. Don't just go out and buy the first one you see. Look for reviews, and find one that has video or detailed pictures. There are some great manuals online that won't cost much, but be careful to find one that has good reviews from people who have actually used it.

When your Xbox stops working, it is easy to get caught up in the frustration and want it fixed immediately. Just make sure to use your head if you decide to fix your Xbox yourself. If you aren't confident in your ability to fix it, just send it in. You can always rent an Xbox from your local game store and play that while you are waiting to get your Xbox back from the repair center.
