Data quality is extremely important for a person working in a data entry position. There are several things that work together to make the data quality as good as possible. First of all it is the accuracy of the data. If you are working in a data entry position you know how important being accurate is. In fact accuracy is essential in this job. It does not matter if you are typing a document or if you are filling in a form, in both cases you have to do it without mistakes. Sometimes pressure of meting a deadline or making more money by filling in more forms is the reason why there are mistakes in one's work. And since if you are working in the data entry field you know that your work will be seen by others, it is important to have the data presented in an easy to understand way. If you are filling in online forms you have to pay special attention to spelling and word phrasing. If you can do your data entry work offline you can always use a spell check program to help you with the most common spelling mistakes or to attention you of word phrasing. However you should not reply solely on these kinds of programs, but try to work as fast as you can and as accurate as you can. Not only does the data entry work you are doing have to be easy to understand by the people who view it, but they also need to be able to trust it. Imagine they are using some of that data to make a report. If your data is not accurate their report will not be accurate either. It is not always that we can control the data quality. Sometimes the information you need to type is not relevant anymore or it is no correct from the beginning. In these cases you cannot be blamed since you are just the data entry person, but the data quality is affected nonetheless. Sometimes the data is not complete and in this case again it is not your fault, but you do have the duty to ask the person you work for to either give you the complete data or to tell you what to do if there are missing pages in the document that you are typing. If you are working as a data entry person as part of a data entry program you can always ask for support and guidance from the company you work for, but you will not be blamed for the low level of the data quality unless there are a lot of typing related mistakes. However if you have a home based business that provides data entry service you might end up losing some of the customers because of the negative feedback you will receive for the low data quality of the typed document.
