Is it even possible to get your ex back after you cheated
? It's a good question to ask and one that far too many people are asking these days. Cheating seems to be impacting more and more couples on a global scale with more than 50% of people in a relationship admitting to having an affair at some point.
Cheating can be completely devastating to a relationship for many different reasons. Each person involved in the relationship will have to decide for him or herself what defines cheating and whether or not he or she will allow cheating to define the entire relationship.
Some people are never able to see past the act of cheating. For those select few (and it really is a low number of people who can just never move beyond the act) there is little chance of salvaging the relationship.
Other people though are able to step back from the emotional minefield that cheating is and see the act more objectively. This doesn't mean they aren't hurt by cheating. It doesn't mean they'll take you back without question. It means you have better odds of getting these people to view the situation more objectively and may find a more willing attitude towards forgiveness.
No one in a loving, caring, and committed relationship is going to take cheating with the same degree of upset they'd feel over a spilled cup of coffee but there are some who hide their feelings well. This isn't good either. Whether it's from hiding the feelings or being indifferent, both are a sign of either bigger problems than you realize or a sign of bigger problems to come through the repression of emotion.
Before you try and work things out between the two of you it is important to get it all out on the table and experience the full emotional windstorm that cheating often stirs. Once the air clears and the winds die down you can both begin to work through the issues that are causing friction in the relationship one by one.
It is definitely possible to get your ex back after you've cheated. It won't be easy though. And it shouldn't be easy. We humans have a tendency to take things that are too easy for granted. When you have to work hard for it, you'll treasure it more and won't be as likely to make the same mistakes over again.
