A person does not need a lot of experience with paintball guns before joining an organized team

. A player basically learns how to effectively use the gun by using it. Someone can gain this experience by being a member of a team. Everyone needs to start someplace.

Anyone participating in a paintball game needs to be aware that most sporting fields will ask everyone to sign a waiver. Although the game is basically harmless there is the chance of being injured, like in any other sport. Generally, a person under the age of 18 will be required to have the signature from a parent or guardian to allow participation. In order to prevent injury everyone needs to follow instructions and play by the rules. It is also important for a person to understand the field, if it is the first time to play there, and to understand all of the rules. Some fields have different rules for play.

Participants wear various types of paintball gear, but the most important are masks and goggles. A player should wear these at all times in designated areas. Participants should always perform the velocity check of the paintball guns. A new player should understand that when changing barrels or if the weather suddenly changes, a person should once again check the velocity. The paintball gun needs to have a barrel blocking device. This is necessary to prevent it from misfiring when not on the field. When a competitor first joins the sport the equipment can be rented. This includes everything from the gun to the paintball markers. Some players choose to wear special clothing while others prefer a T-shirt and shorts. Actually, heavier clothing offers more protection, so sweatshirts and sweatpants offer a good choice.

There are other items available that might provide more comfort during the game. These include a chest and back protector. After a competitor becomes more experienced there are a variety of other items to purchase. These include paintball gloves, pants and paintball jerseys. These will allow a player more comfort, as well as additional protection.

Following the game, do not forget that players need to clean up either at the field or at home. This can sometimes take as long as it takes to play the game. After a few games, however, removing the paint becomes a process and it is much easier. All of this just adds to the fun of the game.
