Making a vegetable garden is one of the best ways for you to get the finest quality, most nutrient rich, and toxic free vegetables. Everybody knows that we are supposed to get 4 to 5 servings of vegetables every day,right? Well, if you didn't know it before, you do now. Vegetables give us nutrients that helps to fight off diseases and cancers. Another reason you should grow your own is because commercial farmers use pesticides and steroids to help their vegetables grow. These chemicals are absorbed by the plants and in turn are then passed on to us through the vegetables themselves. When we grow our own, we get to control what, if any, chemicals are used.

Many people don't realize this, but you can have a garden anywhere. It doesn't matter where you live, if you have just the smallest space, you can have one. I live in the city and my deck is where I grow mine. A friend of mine lives in a highrise and he grows his on his rooftop. If you are going to do that though, I recommend you get permission from your landlord. You might ask,"How do you grow a garden on your deck?", well it is simple.

I bought a book that gave me great instructions on how to build my own garden box. It isn't that big, only about 6x8, but it works for me. I can tell you this, I don't have to buy vegetables any more. I grow them, then freeze them. The nice thing about my garden is that it grows all year round. I got a little advice as to what vegetables to grow and where to plant them so that weeds didn't take over. Another nice thing is that I don't spend more than an hour a week doing anything to my garden, except maybe picking my vegetables. That was 3 years ago and my garden just keeps feeding me and my family.
