A recent study was conducted on human trauma and it listed losing a relationship as one of the top five most emotionally traumatizing experiences of one's life. Every year, hundreds of thousands of relationships go sour. Marriages are not spared either. A recent conservative study shows that about 50% of all marriages end up in divorce.
These are grim statistics. They mean that at one time or another, someone somewhere has lost a valued relationship. Humans derive their self-esteem from healthy relationships. It has also been noted that people who are successful in their careers and even academically also have healthy relationships to buttress their endeavors.
This underlies the reason why breakups are so traumatizing. Many people who lose their relationships never regain them back. Sometimes it is because the other party moves to another town, state or even country thereby making reconciliation impractical. Then there are others where violence was involved and there is a legal restraining order. In this case reconciling with the other party becomes inherently difficult.
But there are those relationships which are patched up. While some people believe that these are in the minority, there are those who can testify that reuniting with one's ex is indeed possible if one plays their cards right.
Let us look at a few pointers towards playing those cards right. Getting your ex back will involve will-power on your behalf. There are adjustments that have to be made on your part if you want to get your ex back. One of those adjustments is that you must imagine a life without them. This means no contact, no phone calls, no emails and no gifts.
Do not even send a friend to say hi or show up at their office or house saying that you were "in the neighborhood" This has the effect of sending a message to your ex that you are perfectly capable of surviving the impact to of their absence and are well able to patch up your life.
Another tactic is to resist any drama. This means you must not show any anger towards them whatsoever even if you meet them at a party with their new boyfriend or girlfriend. Many people permanently ruin their chances of getting their ex by causing a scene in public when they encounter their ex especially if that ex is accompanied by another party.
Also, you must take care of yourself. Avoid giving off the impression that you are hurting. This empowers your ex and makes them feel that they have a larger hold on you than they really have. It also serves to embolden them to mistreat you even more. You must radiate strength and confidence. This gives off the aura that you are self-sufficient and that you are coping just fine. In the event that your ex never comes back to you, it is quite possible for you to also be able to move on and rebuild your life.
