It is Worth It to Invest in Stock Options?

It is Worth It to Invest in Stock Options?

We know it is possible to enrich if we know how to invest in stocks of good companies with discipline and consistency. It may take a long time to achieve our financial independence but in the end if we do everything right, for sure we will get there. But things aren't so easy, but neither are too difficult, it just take a while to accumulate a great knowledge.

But many investors are impatient and they think: "Oh no! If I had invested here before, today I would be rich!"

And what do they do? Try to make up for lost time by investing in horrible stocks and other highly speculative ones. Then, as they do not know how to invest in the stock exchange (or trade, at all), ultimately they lose their money.

But aside from bad stocks, there are stock options, and unfortunately they attract unprepared and very impatient people.

Why Stock Options are so Attractive?

While a simple stock can range up to around 5% in a single day (sometimes more, I am giving an average) options typically move 20%, 50% and sometimes double its value in a few hours. The novice investors notice these crazy variations and decide to enter the market to try to get rich as quickly as possible, ignoring all the effort required to get there safely.

And what do they do? Put all their money at once in an option. Sometimes it works, some manage to gather huge amounts of money. But with a miserable slide, which will inevitably happen because they do not know what they're doing, all the money goes away, once and without asking for permission.

These people do not know that options are extremely dangerous in the hands of those who do not know what they are doing. While an investor will lose money by investing in crappy stocks, an investor will lose money with options even faster due to its huge price fluctuations.

So I Should Stay Away From Stock Options?

Not exactly.

In the hands of a well trained and skilled investor, the options become wonderful tools for portfolio protection. Investors can use options to hedge their stocks and thus protect themselves from unexpected market movements.

So should I invest in Options?

It depends.

Like I said, the options are very useful tools in the hands of experienced investors. So if you already have experience in investing in the stock market, the options will help you meet your goals and protect your portfolio from market risks. However, if you're starting now to invest in stocks, you better learn how to invest in the stock market before moving on to more complicated investments.

It's always good to remember that the options for investors who are in mid-level and advanced levels only. So if you like the idea of protecting your stocks using options, leave to study them further ahead. For now, concentrate on learning to invest in regular stocks.

Then once you are comfortable with them, do not forget to consider options and its many uses. I assure you, if not rushed, you may have great results with options in the future. Just don't be hasty.
