Jaipur Packages - City Of Palaces And Forts

Jaipur, a major tourist attraction for Indian and foreign travellers

, is the first planned city in India. It is a part of the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Jaipur is called the Pink City as the buildings within the walled city are painted in pink. Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan, got its name from its founder Maharaja Jai Singh II (1693-1744).

Jaipur is known for its huge forts, palaces, temples, monuments and gardens. Among the forts, Amber Fort was the palace of the rulers from 1600 to 1727. The fort was built in Hindu-Muslim architectural style. The fort was named after the Goddess Amba. Sheesh Mahal, adorned with numerous mirror tiles on the walls and ceiling, is inside this fort.

A short distance away from the Amba Fort lies the Jaigarh Fort. This fort is considered as the strongest among the three forts in the Pink City. Jaivana, world's largest cannon, is in this fort. Nahargarh Fort is the smallest among the three forts. Man Sagar Lake and the vast sprawl of Jaipur can be seen from this fort. The fort houses the Madhavendra Bhawan Palace.

City Palace is an imposing structure built in traditional Rajput and Mughal architecture. The palace occupies one-seventh of the walled city. It houses several palatial structures like the Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Diwan-e-Khas and the Diwan-e-Aam or Hall of Public Audience. Jal Mahal (Water Palace) is situated in the centre of the Mansarovar Lake.

Among the temples, the star attraction is Govind Devji Temple. For the Vaishnavites, this is the most important temple in the world after Vrindavan. Moti Doongari temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesh, is located in the centre of the Pink City. Choose a Jaipur Package and visit the Lakshmi Narayan Temple (The Marble Temple), Akshardham Temple, Galwh Bagh (The Monkey Temple) and Surya Mandir (The Sun Temple).

The Pink City has several monuments which attract large number of travellers. Among them Jantar Mantar is in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was one of the five astronomical observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh during the 18th century. Hawa Mahal (Palace of Breeze) was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Singh as part of City Palace. Gaitore is a royal cremation site of the royal rulers of jaipur.

Jaipur has also several gardens and museums. Among them are Ram Niwas Garden, Zoological Garden, Sisodia Rani Palace and Garden, Vidyadhar Garden and Central Park.

Jaipur is well connected by air, rail and road. Expectedly, Jaipur has a large number of hotels to accommodate various categories of travelers that provide you with the ideal Jaipur Package. The best time to visit Jaipur is during the winter months from September to March.
