, Jerry Seinfeld has been in the headlines in connection with Lady Gaga. The producer and Mets fan was recently spotlighted after Lady Gaga took his box at Shea Stadium without his knowledge. Talking to WFAN radio, Seinfeld's interview was only partially humorous when he called Gaga a "jerk" for flipping off the paparazzi in her underwear and then picking up Seinfeld's exclusive box seat. "You give people the finger and you get upgraded? Is that the world we're living in now?" he said following the late June incident.

After the highly publicized event, the Mets have formallly and publicly apologized to the comedian, who tends to remain out of the spotlight. In an exclusive statement, the Mets said, "The use of Jerry Seinfeld's suite was unauthorized and unknown to him at the time." After Gaga defended her actions, the attention turned back to the baseball team. Despite the unlikely drama surrounding this Jewish comedian, Seinfeld's reality show and subsequent tour have been doing extremely well. The success isn't surprising for the longtime celebrity who first gained fame after working with Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Massapequa, Seinfeld began his comedy career after graduating from Queens College but didn't get his big break until the '80s. Several years after struggling to make it in the Big Apple, Seinfeld hit the West Coast and eventually starred in his first HBO comedy special "Jerry Seinfeld's Stand Up Confidential."

The stand-up comedian who had made the rounds throughout the nation's club circuit was approached by NBC in 1990 to start his own sitcom. The famous "show about nothing" paired Seinfeld with Larry David and began what would become one of the most iconic sitcoms in history. Initially called The Seinfeld Chronicles, the show paled in comparison to other sitcoms at the time with just four episodes its first year and six its second. Co-starring Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards, the NBC show was a huge hit in its third season into its final year in 1998.

Following its final season, Seinfeld retired his previous skits with a Broadway show and first ever comedy album I'm Telling you for the Last Time. He began the new decade with his 2002 film Comedian, which captured one of his comedy club tours. Apart from some of the Seinfeld books, Seinfeld began a career writing children's stories. Further down the road Seinfeld turned to an acting career with the 2007 film Bee Movie in which he starred, wrote and produced. Since he began a reunion of stand-up comedy stints, Seinfeld reunited with his "Seinfeld" costars on Larry David's HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm.
