Jim Corbett National Park is the first national park of India; it was established

in 1936 and named after conservationist Jim Corbett who played a major role in the establishment of this Park. It is a must visit destination for those who come for wildlife tours in India. The major objective behind the creation of this park is to protect endangered Bengal tiger of India by creating a safe area for this beautiful animal. It is situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand state. It is a popular tourist place for wildlife and nature lovers because this park has so much to explore when it comes to flora and fauna. In the winter season Ramganga hosts a wide variety of migratory bird species from Europe and Central Asia. Kosi is another major river of the Corbett National Park, although Kosi flows partially in the park but many wild animals from Corbett are dependent on this river during the crunch time especially to satisfy drinking needs. Like Ramganga, it too attracts migratory bird species.

As far fauna is concerned in the Jim Corbett National Park, Royal Bengal tiger is the most famous animal in the Corbett. It is believed that the total number of Bengal Tigers in the world is 4000 and around 1000 of them are in India. The Asian Elephant, largest of the land mammals can also be seen here. Corbett National Park houses around 590 species of birds, more than 25 reptile species and around 50 species of mammals. The park is a heaven for wildlife lovers.
