Major Ramsay chalked out a comprehensive conservation plan to protect the national park in 1958.

The reserve is mainly shelter for tigers, which are already on verge of extinction. However there is a varied variety of wildlife in Corbett National Park and can be spotted easily. Kakar or barking deers, wild boar, sambar, Gharial, crocodile, Mahseer (fish), Goonch (Bagarius bagarius), Indian trout, Rohu, Leopard, Macaque monkey, Langur, Himalayan Goral, Wild boar, Jackal, Otters, elephants, Chital and Para or Hog Deer are some creatures you can expect to see.

Corbett national park can be best experienced through Jeep Safari. Elephant Safari and Canter Safari. Many tour and travel agencies are specialized in Corbett tour, making your tour easier and convenient. There are some good lodges and accommodation facilities, making your stay more pleasurable. The Jim Corbett National Park has been divided into four tourism zones (Bijrani safari Zone, Dhikala safari Zone, Durga Devi safari Zone, Jhirna safari Zone) for the sake of tourist convenience.

By Air: The closest air strip is located in Pantnagar that is just 50 kilometres from Corbett National Park.

By Rail: The closest rail head is located in Ramnagar which is connected to all major railway stations in north India.

By Road: The Jim Corbett National Park is well connected to prominent cities of the country, while road condition is in great shape. It is approximately 280 km from Delhi, 403 km from Lucknow and very near km from Ramnagar. If you are coming from Delhi one needs to take the Hapur-Murababad-Ramnagar route.
