When you start learning Japanese as a foreign language you have to complete its studies in 5 different levels

. Japanese language studies have been divided into 5 levels namely N5, N4, N3, N2 and N1. Here "N" stands for either "new" or "Nihongo". "Nihongo" is Japanese word which meaning Japanese language. To prove your fluency and understanding of Japanese language in the professional world you need to appear for the JLPT exams. JLPT is an abbreviation of Japanese language proficiency tests which are conducted only for Japanese language in all the member countries all around the world.

These five are basically the different levels that you need to study one at a time and pass these exams one after the other. The sequence of these levels is it starts from N5, N4, N3, N2 and the last and the most difficult is N1. From the very basic level which is N5 you have to start learning the script which also includes kanji, Japanese grammar and vocabulary. The only difference between these different levels is the complexity. It is said that learning Japanese language is a difficult task but at the same time it is a very interesting language to learn.

JLPT N3 is a newly introduced level from the year 2010. This level is called the bridge between the N4 and N2 levels. To reduce the huge difficulty gap between N4 and N2 this level has been introduced. Like the other levels this level consists of some very important grammar which is used by the Japanese people in their conversation. Another essential part of this level is the Kanjis and the various jyukugos of each of them. You might feel that the kanjis of JLPT N3 level are a bit difficult but they are very important to learn the language. While learning grammar you will realize that many sentence patterns sound similar to each other but in reality there is a minute but very important difference between them. There are many factors which are responsible and are considered while using these different sentence patterns. Some factors are, the time, occasion, event, relation that the speaker shares with the listener, formal or informal use etc. Before appearing for the exam you have to make sure that you have memorized and are thorough with the complete grammar, kanji and vocab. Because, unless and until you are confident and sure about this you cannot clear the JLPT N3 exam.

Like the other levels of JLPT, N3 also has different sections of vocabulary, kanji, listening, reading and grammar in its exam pattern. The exam pattern consists of multiple choice questions where you are given four different options as an answer and you have to select the correct one. In addition to this there is an individual passing system as well as an aggregate passing system. This means that you have to clear the individual sections as well as get the minimum marks to reach the aggregate percentage also.

If you are learning Japanese to help you in your career or professional life then it is better that you pass at least the N3 level of JLPT. If you have this certificate then you can expect to get a good job for yourself. Only learning Japanese and understanding it is not very profitable. In addition to this you have to know how to write it well and how to speak the language fluently.
